The combination of rich texture and color makes this card look a lot more involved to make than it actually is! Because we’re using layers of texture in similar shades, the feature of the card, the “Joy” wreath, gets all of the attention. The rich golden background is a perfect foil for the red accents.
Materials
Stamps – “Holiday Joy” stamp set
Papers
Off-white card stock half-sheet, folded
Gold designer paper quarter-sheet (I used Basic Grey) plus a scrap
Off-white card stock
Bright Red card stock
Inks
Versacolor Camellia, Evergreen, Green Tea; Brilliance Galaxy Gold; Memories Soft Wheat and Soft Leaf
Other Supplies
Red Ribbon
Gold paint pen or Brilliance Galaxy Gold ink
Die cut – I used Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Four (S4-190)
Cuttlebug A2 Textile Texture embossing envelope
Instructions
Edge with either the gold paint pen OR Brilliance Galaxy Gold ink, then smudge some of the raised areas with the paint pen or ink pad. Set aside.
Use the second largest die cut from and cut an off-white label. Stamp the JOY stamp multiple times in Memories Wheat and Leaf inks, to make a background pattern.
Line the newly cut-out label with the Gold Paint Pen or edge with the Gold ink pad. Now glue to a piece of the Bright Red card stock and trim away until you have a pinstripe of red paper showing. Set aside.
Use the scrap piece of the Gold designer paper and the third-smallest die cut and make a label. Stamp the Joy block stamp in Versacolor Evergreen ink.
Then stamp the Itsy Flower Cluster in Camellia ink...
...and the Itsy Leaves in Green Tea.
Last, stamp the Tiny Sprig in Brilliance Galaxy Gold.
Stamp the very edges of the label with the Sprig using Gold ink. Then edge this label with either the Gold Paint Pen or the Galaxy Gold ink pad.
Glue the newly cut-out label to a piece of Bright Red card stock and trim the excess away so that you have just a pinstripe of red remaining. Set aside.
Assemble the card by attaching the Red Ribbon to the front of the prepared quarter-sheet. Glue the quarter sheet to the folded half-sheet. Then glue the off-white JOY-stamped label on top of the ribbon. Then glue down the smaller gold label, which has the Joy wreath stamped in the beautiful red and green. That’s it; you’re finished!

I love the texture in this card. It is simple and elegant.
I also wanted to say how impressive it is that you ship your orders so fast. I ordered on the weekend, it was shipped on Monday and I got it on Wednesday. I live in Wisconsin so if I was closer I probobaly would have gotten it Tuesday. Most places are around two weeks for delivery.

Every week I say the same thing--your cards take my breath away! But it happens every Tuesday--I really look forward to seeing what you've done. I hope to see a Monkey card with those new animal stamps in the near future, as we have a tradition of giving my Dad monkey cards for his birthday and Father's Day. Must have these!

I love the way you've left the decoration around the central word so simple - it looks very sophisticated and the whole looks like it has taken hours of work!

Joy is a simple word but can mean so much. Enjoy your card.

Hi Sue,
I think the pinstripe red really sets this off. Have you considered making any other word sets? I also like the Noel set. Keep them coming! Thanks

Another fantastic idea from you. Sure wish you were my neighbor!!!! I gave my daughter my wish list already and I know I won't change it. I want your two big sets. Thanks again for such neat ideas.

I really like the idea of the gold and red coloring, but I'm not sure I like the gold designer paper that you embossed. I guess Im not a smudgy type paper lover. But I do like all the other elements of this card. Can't wait to see the next one.
