Inspiration for this week's card comes from a rear-view-mirror look at Christmas past. I wanted to make something that had the flavor of the fabrics my grandmother used to sew her aprons out of. They were faded from use and she often made them from small floral prints that I will forever associate with her. I attempted to reflect some of those soft fabrics in the stamping arrangements for this card, with the hopes that it would bring back special memories of your own grandmother or special cook in the holiday kitchen.
Stamps -
Holiday Stocking stamp set
"Joyeux Noel" mini stamp
Papers -
Split Pea card stock - 4.5 x 5.5-inches
Forest Green card stock - 11 x 5.5-inches, folded in the center
White card stock scraps
Inks -
Versacolor Pigment Bark, Burgundy, Evergreen, Khaki, Pinecone
Medium Punch - Scalloped Circle
Medium Punch - Square .75 .75-inch
Scalloped Punch - Square (Large) - I used a 2 x 2-inch punch
Cuttlebug Embossing folders - Distressed Stripes and Victoria
Chalk - Tan
PopIt! Shapes - (I used Square)
Embellishments -
Thin Nude Ribbon
Burgundy Ribbon with white stitching
Adhesive Pearls - Chocolate
Instructions
Fold the Split Pea card stock at the 1.5-inch mark. Then use the scalloped round punch to make three vertical holes. Run the Split Pea card stock piece through the Distressed Stripes embossing folder.
On a White card stock scrap measuring about 1.25 x 4.5 inches, stamp three different circular patterns to line up in the holes you just put in the Split Pea card stock. For the top and bottom circles, I used Khaki and Bark ink. In the middle circle, I used Burgundy, Khaki, and Bark inks. Glue the stamped piece behind the Split Pea card stock so that the stamping shows through the scalloped holes. Use the Tan chalk to colorize the stamped images and to soften them.
Run the Forest Green card base through the "Victoria" embossing envelope (make sure to emboss the portion with the opening, since this is the part that will show). Slip the Split Pea piece over the Forest Green card base and glue down.
Glue the ribbons down and now you're ready to make the diamond medallion.
Punch out a White card stock 2 x 2-inch scalloped square. Use the following stamps and colors to make a border:
Tiny Holly Branch in Khaki
Tiny Flower in Burgundy
Tiny Stocking in Burgundy
Tiny Sparkling Star in Bark
Mini Star Tinsel in Evergreen
Edge the scalloped diamond medallion with Pinecone ink and glue to card base.
On a White card stock scrap, stamp the "Joyeux Noel" stamp in Burgundy ink. Center the stamped image in the square punch and punch out. Use PopIt! double-sided tape to attach to the center of the scalloped medallion.
Add the Adhesive Pearls and you're done!

Hi Susan -
Do you know that this card has a "Tapestry" look to it? The textures you've created on this card really do give it the look of a tapestry. This is just gorgeous. Another beautiful card.
Thanks

The rich colors of this card are quite appealing to me. And the double embossing and punched holes are a terrific combo to use with many variations. How about publishing all of your posted cards for the year in a cute little book--I have the slowest computer/internet service in the world. It would be great to take to our traveling workshops for inspiration. Besides, I like cozying up with a good book once in a while!

This would make a great cover for a mini album too!
Love it!
