Much of the color that was still hanging on the limbs the last few weeks has disappeared for the winter. While this transition is one of sad sweetness, the cooler air of Fall helps get our minds around the winter to come. So now we herald the upcoming season by making a little color of our own in this muted red and green card using the Partridge in a Pear Tree set (say it once and you'll be humming it for weeks!).
Stamps -
Partridge in a Pear Tree stamp set
"Happy Christmas" mini peg stamp
Papers - Light Olive card stock
Light Burgundy card stock - 3.75 x 4.5 inches
White quarter-sheet card stock
Rose card stock
Inks - Versacolor Bamboo, Burgundy, Pinecone, Split Pea, Umber
Chalks - Burnt Sienna, Butterscotch
Accessories -
Cuttlebug Embossing Envelope - Birds and Swirls, D'Vine Swirls
Spellbinders Inverted Scalloped Square die cut (S4-196)
Spellbinders Classic Circles Large die cut (S4-114)
Medium Punch - Circle
Adhesive Pearls - Chocolate
White Paint Pen
Gold Paint Pen
Green Transparent Ribbon and Mauve Ribbon cord is
PopIt! Shapes - Square
Instructions
Use the Circle die cut and cut a round hole from the Burgundy card stock.
Run the Light Olive card stock through the Birds and Swirls embossing envelope and the Light Burgundy card stock piece through the D'Vine Swirls embossing envelope.
Attach the two ribbons down the vertical center of the Olive card stock.
Edge the Burgundy card stock with the Gold Paint Pen and glue the card stock to the Olive card base.
Medallions
This
card has three medallions and the first one we'll do will be the round
background medallion. Run the White card stock through the die cut
machine and cut out a circle.
Stamp the Tiny Partridge Sprig in Pinecone ink.
Edge the outer portion of the circle with the Butterscotch chalk and Pinecone ink.
Glue this medallion to the Light Rose card stock and trim away the excess so that you have a thin pinstripe of color showing. Glue to the card base, in the center of the round hole you made in the Light Burgundy card stock.
Now make the Partridge Medallion:
Cut out a scalloped square with the die cut system.
Using Pinecone ink, stamp the Partridge on a piece of White card stock.
Stamp the Pear Branch in Bamboo ink and the Partridge Sprig in Burgundy ink. Chalk the edges of the scalloped square with Butterscotch chalk.
Edge the scalloped square with Pinecone ink. Attach on top of the round medallion with PopIt! tape. Set aside.
On a White card stock scrap, stamp "Happy Christmas" in Pinecone ink. Use the Burnt Sienna Chalk to colorize the paper ant then stamp the Tiny Partridge Sprig in Burgundy and the Pear Branch in Bamboo. Center the stamped images in the Medium Round Punch and punch out. Edge with Pinecone ink and attach to the card base.
Until next week, Happy Stamping from Susan and rest of the gang at Rubber Stamp Tapestry!

At first I thought this card was made with fabric. But no, just paper. I love it. There is just so much dimension. A perfect Christmas card.

The colors of this grabbed my eye. The olive green and rusty red are a nice change from the more traditional red and green.

Really enjoyed your tutorial and sample. I really like how you cut out the circle and added the stamping around the edge. It could be done with a lot of different shapes to get some unique results. Thanks for sharing.
