With the roll-over into the new year, January is a time of looking ahead with hopefulness. With December behind us and February imminent, it's not too far a stretch to dream of warmer days and Springtime! Today's card is especially bright with color and promise-- and I'd like to send out warm wishes to all of you who follow our blog, no matter what part of the country you live in.

Papers -
Light Blue card stock - 4.5 x 4.25 inches
Medium Blue card stock - 4.5 x 1.75 inches
White card stock - 3.75 x 4 inches
White card stock - 2 x 3 inches (for note card)
White card stock scrap

Embellishments -
Ribbon
Dried Flowers (I used some Lavender from last year's herb garden)
Run the Light Blue card stock through the Victoria embossing folder. Follow with the Medium Blue in the Swill Dots embossing folder.
Glue the two pieces together, with the darker blue at the top of the card. The card will be horizontal and open by pulling the flap up.
Using the larger White card stock, stamp the Flower in Archival ink all around the border.
Follow with the Leaf in Green Tea.
Using Purple and Aqua water colors, paint some of the flowers and parts of the border area.
Stamp the Branch in Black ink.
Then stamp the Sprig in Gold ink.
Next, cut a portion from the top of the piece, about 1.5 inches from the top of the stamped area.
On the top piece, make a free-form cut along the bottom border in an undulating fashion.
Repeat with the top of the larger stamped piece.
Use the Gold Paint Pen to edge all around both pieces.
Glue the smaller piece to the top of the card base. Then glue the larger piece, but only apply glue around the sides and the bottom (we are leaving the inner portion free of glue so we can use the recess to hold a little note card).
Now stamp the note card.
Using the "warm wishes" block stamp and Black ink, stamp in the center of the small White card stock scrap.
Follow with the Flower in Grape ink.
Next, stamp the Leaves in Green Tea.
Stamp the Branch in Gold.
Then stamp the Sprig in Black.
Last, stamp two butterflies. Watercolor one with Aqua paint. Use Purple watercolor for the second one.
Then stamp a third Butterfly in Black ink on a small scrap of White card stock. Use the
Purple water color again for this Butterfly, then cut it out, fold it, and glue it on top of the corresponding
Purple Butterfly you stamped earlier.
Now the note can be slipped into the slot we designed earlier.
Then glue the Dried Flowers to the card front, and then add the ribbon. Garnish with some tiny-tipped Glitter Glue and you're done!
Well, almost! See that blank spot? We need something there. We also need something to tie the colors all together, (now that I've already glued down the ribbon, it I see that if I modify anything, it has to be to something I haven't done yet).
So, let's make some floral embellishments so the eye is not disappointed.
On that White card stock scrap, stamp three flowers with some space between them. Then add a Leaf stamp to two of them, pointing in different directions. Paint one Coral, one Aqua, and and the other one Purple.
Next, cut all three pieces out and get ready to arrange. I used the Coral one in the middle, snuggled behind the other two because it's an accent color and I want to feature the Aqua and Purple more. Glue these together, then popIt! to the resulting embellishment to the envelope and you're really done!

The school nurse & I trade lavender scented items back & forth. We both love the scent. What a fun card this would be for her. I also appreciate the embossing folder ideas. I really like using them but never thought to combine two! Thanks.

Wow, as if I wasn't already ready for Spring to get here, this card would have made me ready. I love the colors, and I love the watercoloring. I have this set and now I know what to do with that large outline flower. Thanks again for a wonderful, idea-filled, card.

breathtaking as usual! I think I have one or two of these open-type flowers that could be colored in nicely. I will have to try this!

Hi,
I just love your ideas. Please Please Please think about putting them in a book or making them available in printed worksheets. While I love the Internet for quick availability, I would love to have all your ideas in a book/worksheets which I could look through in a more leisurely manner. - Switching quickly between examples to combine ideas I generally find easier with printed pages than internet. (All right call me a dinosaur - I still love the printed form - even though I work in IT). The quality of the images/ideas/instructions is far higher than alot of craft books out there.

Another beautiful card. I hadn't thought of watercoloring your stamps before and the combination of the outline and colored in flowers is light and airy. All the little touches in the card, the popped shapes and the gently curved gold outlined separated pieces are nice ideas to add to my "tool box". Thanks again for the clear instructions and design explanations.
