Here in North Carolina, the flowers and trees are clapping their hands. Spring has sprung and, with the current temperatures, the promise of Summer is already signed and sealed. It's just a matter of time before the brambly roses near the silo send out fragrance into the warm night air...
Stamps -
Thorny Rose stamp set
"I Love You" block stamp
Papers -
Green card stock half-sheet, folded
Light Blue card stock
White card stock
White card stock scrap
Dark Green card stock scrap
Denim Blue card stock
Inks -
Versacolor Narcissus, Cyan, Bamboo, Green Tea, Neptune, Grape, Atlantic, Bark, and Umber
Tools and Supplies -
Cuttlebug embossing folder - "Textile Textures" and "Swiss Dots"
Label Die - I used Spellbinders Nestabilities Large Labels - S4-168)
Round Scalloped Die - I used Spellbinders Petite Scallop Circles Large
Chalk - Yellow-Orange and Butterscotch
Gold Paint Pen
Instructions -
Run the Green card stock through the "Textile Textures" embossing folder and set aside.
Run the Light Blue card stock through the machine using a Label die. Set it aside for now. Then run the White card stock through the machine, using the next-smaller die (I used the one that measures 2-5/8 x 3-3/8 inches). On the White label, stamp the following:
Stamp the Rose in Narcissus. Then colorize the Roses with the Yellow-Orange Chalk, taking care to chalk only the stamped impressions and not the surrounding paper.
Stamp some more Roses in Narcissus ink. Then chalk the new impressions with the Butterscotch Chalk.
Stamp the Rose again, this time in Cyan ink. Because I didn't want the blues to overpower the yellows, I stamped the first impressions on a scrap piece of paper and used only second impressions in the wreath.
Stamp the Leaves in Bamboo ink.
Stamp the Leaves again, this time in Green Tea ink.
Stamp the Sepal in Green Tea ink.
Stamp the Bramble in Grape ink.
After you have stamped the wreath, edge the label with Atlantic ink, and then again with Cyan.
Then glue the stamped piece to the Light Blue card stock Label you made earlier. Set aside until you have made the pieces for the medallion, which will go on top of this piece.
Make the Embellishments -
On a scrap of White card stock, stamp a floral strip:
Roses in Atlantic ink
Leaves in Green Tea
Sprig in Pinecone
Cut around the stamped area and then edge with Umber ink. Set aside for now.
On the White card stock scrap, stamp the "I Love You" stamp in Neptune
ink. Then stamp the Rose stamp in Cyan ink around the sentiment. Use the
Bramble stamp and Bark ink to create a little more texture. When the
ink dries, cut the medallion out. Then edge it with the Gold Paint Pen.
Glue to a Dark Green card stock scrap and trim away the excess.
Using a Round Scalloped die and the Denim Blue card stock, make a circle 1-1/8-inches wide. Run it through the Swiss Dots embossing folder. Then edge the scallops with the Gold Paint Pen. Once it dries, fold the circle in half and position it so that it sandwiches the panel you stamped the wreath on earlier. Glue this ensemble to the card base. Then affix the floral strip and the sentiment medallion on top of it.

I am always excited to see your color combinations, but this one just seems to have too much yellow in it and I especially did not like the brambles in grape...you asked!! I still can't wait for next week's card...and how about that book of all your website cards from 2009,with the techniques included?

Nice layout and I like the yellow roses.

I love this - when you say "colorize the Roses with the Yellow-Orange Chalk, taking care to chalk only the stamped impressions and not the surrounding paper" Would that be using a finger and taking care - or is there a more technical approach ? - Please think about producing a book for us...

I LOVE this card. I never would have thought of chalking on top of inked stamped images. Something I will definitely try.

I love roses! Beautiful, as always.

Love the card and the yellow is so dreamy. You can also add the smaller solid rose to have two sizes of roses for a card (that's what I've done!). I also really like the medallion with the half scallop circle as a base. Thanks again.

Lovely roses. I personally didn't like the green background on the card but loved the roses. Question: Did you stamp the roses with the chalk? Also on the finished card it looks like you stamped over some of the brambles so they aren't showing as much. Sorry for the questions, but I love your different techniques and always want to learn more. Thanks and have a great week.

I absolutly love this stamp set. I first became aquainted with Rubber Stamp Tapestry when they were at a show in St. Paul MN. Since then I have purchased on line a few sets and inks. I love the versatility of the stamp pegs. It gives you so much freedom to create your own design. Thanks for all the great cards. I love them all.

How very pretty & bright! I needed the sunny color today. I wish our Spring would stay 'sprung' here...we had a dusting of snow again. But soon snow will all be gone & we'll see the wild roses.

I really liked the color combination you used. Sometimes when I recreate them I think they aren't going to work and yet when I add each layer it comes together. I wanted to add my request for clarification of chalking stamped images. With pigment ink and with Versamark, do you wait for the ink to dry before chalking and what "tool" do you use?
Thanks for another great tutorial.

What fun! And being from Texas, the yellow rose of Texas is popular here!
Loved the imagery about the flowers and hands clapping their hands for spring in your intro. Lovely card, as usual!

Oh my gosh! This is just gorgeous! Just makes me feel like spring and smiling at the beautiful roses. I had a few rose bushes but the neighborhood peacocks ate them! Thanks for sharing your stunning card!
