The daisy, as one of nature's happiest flowers, gives just the right touch of cheeriness to any occasion. It's round, it's symmetrical, and it's playful. The African Daisy, in this project, adds an encouraging touch to the message, "Always believe."
Stamps -
African Daisy stamp set
"always" mini peg stamp
"believe" cursive mini peg stamp
Papers -
Olive Green designer paper half-sheet, folded - I used Basic Grey
Burgundy card stock
White card stock
White card stock scraps
Inks -
Versacolor Peony, Sage, Olive, Bamboo, Evergreen, and Umber
Tools and Other Supplies -
Cuttlebug embossing folder - "Stylized Flowers"
X-acto knife with fine point
Circle die - I used Spellbinders Standard Circles Large S4-114
Gold Paint Pen
Ribbons
Instructions -
Run the Olive Green card base through the embossing folder. Then use the X-acto knife to cut a slit for the round medallion to slip into (note: I used a curving motion to cut the opening, to create a graceful area for some cut-outs...).
Time to Stamp -
Using a large die, cut out a White circle.
Stamp the Nine Buds Branch Solid (sprig) in Bamboo ink.
Use the Gold Paint Pen to edge the Round medallion. Cut a slightly larger circle from the Burgundy paper. Glue the Burgundy circle behind the stamped circle to create your medallion. Slip the medallion into the slit in the card base that you made earlier.
Make Sentiment Medallions -
Stamp the "always" and "believe" stamps in Evergreen ink on White card stock. Then stamp the African Daisy in Sage ink around the sentiments, just to add some texture. Cut out the medallions (small rectangles) and then edge using the Umber ink. Glue to slightly larger pieces of Burgundy paper. Set aside for now.
Make Floral Cut-out -
Make a floral cluster using the following stamps and inks (if you have to make a couple of separate clusters, that works, too):
Stamp the African Daisy in Peony ink.
Stamp the Leaf in Sage ink.
Stamp the Leaf in Olive ink.
Stamp the Sprig in Bamboo ink.
Stamp the Swirl in Evergreen ink.
Cut out and then mount the cut-out, along with the two sentiment cut-outs, to the card base.
Embellish with some ribbons and you're done!

This is just gorgeous. The colours are beautiful. Do you glue the medalion in place once it is in the slit ? If you could use some non permenant glue - you could make the medallion removeable with some 'secret' sentiment on the back.

Love the freshness of the circle! It changes the demensions of looking at it. Not the traditional oval or box look but reminds me of a fan image.
