Old friends are constant friends. That's why this week's blog uses the Tiny Grape and Holly stamp set, a classic from our early days and one of the original sets we developed. As all of the stamps in the set are Tinies, it's a fun set to use for small gift tags or little notes. Okay, let's get going...
Tiny Grape and Holly Border stamp set
"Thank You" block stamp
Papers -
Olive Green card stock half-sheet, folded
White card stock 2-3/8 x 5.5 inches
Pale Yellow card stock - 2.25 x 5.5 inches
White card stock 2.25 x 3 inches
White card stock strip - 1.75 x 5.5 inches
White card stock scrap
Inks - Versacolor Bamboo, Narcissus, Burgundy, Khaki, Green Tea, Bark, Umber, and Ash Rose
Embellishments -
Cuttlebug embossing folders - "Textile Texture" and "Birds and Swirls"
Gold Paint Pen
Ribbons
Adhesive Pearls - Chocolate
Chalk - Butterscotch and Light Mauve
PopIt! Shapes - I used Square
Instructions -
Run the Olive Green card base through the die cut machine using the "Birds and Swirls" embossing envelope. Scuff some of the raised areas with Bamboo ink and then again, especially around the edges, with Umber ink. Set aside for now.
Run the White piece of paper (2-3/8 x 5.5 inches) through the "Textile Textures" embossing folder and glue it on top of the Green card base.
Then take the Yellow piece of paper and run it through the "Textile Textures" embossing folder. Use the Narcissus ink to scuff portions of the embossed area and then use Butterscotch chalk to colorize the inked places. Next, scuff the edges using Bamboo ink. When the ink dries, glue the Yellow piece to the card base.
Now it's time to stamp.
Stamp the Grape Leaf.
Stamp the Itsy 2 Loops and Dots.
Then edge the paper first with Bamboo ink and a second time using Umber ink. When the ink has dried, glue this paper to the card base and set aside.
Then locate the long White paper strip (1.75 x 5.5 inches) and prepare to stamp the following on one side:
Stamp the Grape Leaves in Bamboo ink.
Stamp the Tiny Berry Sprinkling (the larger berry cluster) in Burgundy ink.
Trim the top edge of the paper using the stamped images as a cutting guide; the edge will resemble filigree when you are finished. Then use the Gold Paint Pen to edge the are you just trimmed.
Note: The photo above shows the finished note, with an adhesive pearl.
When the ink is dry, turn the paper over and prepare to stamp the following as a background pattern:
Stamp the Grape Leaves in Ash Rose.
Then use the Light Mauve Chalk to colorize the paper.
Stamp the Fern in Khaki ink.
Stamp the 3 Dot Berries in Burgundy ink.
When the ink is completely dry, fold the paper at these marks (the pink side will be the inside of the note):
1.5 inches from the bottom
2.5 inches from the first fold
Glue the note to the slightly larger panel you stamped earlier.
Make the Sentiment Medallion -
On the last White paper scrap, stamp "Thank You" in Burgundy ink. Trim around the sentiment with scissors and then edge the resulting rectangle with the Gold Paint Pen. Note that I usually like to have some sort of texture in the background of the sentiment but this time I've opted to leave it crisp and white for contrast (since the outside of the little note is chock full of stamped images). When the paint is dry, mount the sentiment onto the fold-out note with PopIt! tape.
Add Embellishments -
Now add the ribbon and some Adhesive Pearls and you're done!
In the comments section of last week's blog, somebody asked to see the "inside of the cards, whenever appropriate." Here's the inside of the note, at least. Since we made a background pattern in the inner portion of the note, instead of writing on this little card, I thought it would be nice to use the fold-out to house a really pretty postage stamp or a little surprise note. Use your imagination!
So what do you think? Just enter your comment in the comment section below for a chance to win the Tiny Grape and Holly Border stamp set. Today's winner is Debra C., who will be receiving the Violet Border stamp set from last week's blog. Congratulations Debra!
Until next week, Happy Stamping from Susan and rest of the gang at Rubber Stamp Tapestry!

Fantastic card with only 3 little stamps. My friends look forward to my 'peg stamp cards' for their birthdays and other occassions. Just love Tuesdays so we get to see another great idea.

What a "wow" card! I love everything about it and want to go upstairs to make it now but I would have to improvise with stamp sets I already have. Nothing like a creative challenge! Thanks again for wonderful inspiration.

What a beautiful card! I love the way you do the layering and the use of the stamps. I have several sets, I love to work with the ideas you give. I also got myself a cuttlebug so I can do the embossing. My cards look very elegant with the use of it and I thank you for it. I never thought I would get one that I didn't need it but after seeing all the lovely cads you do I had to have one.

Hah! My mother-in-law and I were just talking about not having any "Thank You" cards! This one is another cute idea! What keeps the card from flopping open? I missed your bonus card...since we all can't get enough...how about a bonus card using the same stamps, but with a masculine flare each week? Now THAT'S a challenge!
