Ever wonder why the florals in the heat of summer are what we call “warm” colors? Today's card features a tri-fold envelope that is a color wheel celebration. Orange gives Blue just the right amount of warmth and the yellow chalked background reflects perfectly the summer weather we've been having lately!
Stamps -
Garden of Summer Mums
"Congratulations" block stamp
Papers -
Dark Blue half-sheet, folded
White card stock - 3.25 x 11 inches
Green designer paper - I used Basic Grey
Dark Blue scraps
White card stock scraps
Versacolor Neptune, Bamboo, Polar Blue, Narcissus, and Topaz, Green Tea;
Memories Soft Wheat ink;
Archival Black ink
Tools and Embellishments -
Cuttlebug embossing folder - Textile Textures
Gold Paint Pen
Colored Pencils - Sky Blue, Orange
Chalk - Butterscotch
Oval Dies
Oval Die - Scalloped
Instructions -
Take the blue half-sheet and run it through the die cut machine using the embossing folder. Attach the ribbon to the front and set aside.
Then take the White piece of paper and mark it at these increments:
2.5-inch mark
7.5-inch mark
FRONT SIDE
So you don't have to deal with faulty stamp impressions on the creases of the paper, wait until after you've stamped to fold the paper. Stamp the following:
Stamp the Mini Chrysanthemum Solid in Neptune ink.
Then stamp again, this time in Polar Blue ink.
Stamp the Tiny Chrysanthemum Open in Archival Black ink.
Stamp the Mini Chrysanthemum Leaf in Bamboo ink.
Stamp the Mini Chrysanthemum Leaf again, this time in Polar Blue ink.
Then use the Chalk (on a Chalk Puff) to colorize the background.
Use the Orange Colored Pencil to color in the Tiny Chrysanthemums.
Remove the corners of the end of the paper strip that will be the flap; this is the near the 2.5-inch mark. Edge the paper with Bamboo ink and prepare to stamp the other side, which will be the inside of the envelope.
FLIP SIDE
Stamp the Mini Chrysanthemum Leaf in Narcissus ink. Then use the Chalk to colorize this side of the paper. Edge the paper with the Narcissus ink.
Now fold at the marks you made earlier. Then form the paper into an envelope by gluing it at the sides. Set aside for now.
MEDALLION
Take the Dark Blue scrap and run it through the die cut machine using the Oval Die. Then do the same thing with the Green designer paper, this time using the Scalloped Oval Die. Use the Gold Paint Pen to edge the scallops. Glue the Green oval to the Blue oval and set aside for now.
Make the sentiment -
Use the sentiment stamp and Soft Wheat ink to create a background on a White paper scrap. Then stamp again, this time using Archival Black ink. Shape the paper with scissors and then edge using the Gold Paint Pen. Glue to a slightly larger piece of Dark Blue paper and set aside momentarily.
On the White scrap, stamp some Mini Chrysanthemums in Narcissus and Topaz inks. Stamp the Tiny Chrysanthemum in Archival Black. When the ink is dry, use the Colored Pencils to colorize them. Then stamp the Mini Chrysanthemum in Green Tea. Cut all of these out and mount on the Ovals, along with the sentiment.
Then glue the Medallion to the top flap of your tri-fold envelope and you're finished!
Until next week, Happy Stamping from Susan and rest of the gang at Rubber Stamp Tapestry!

Love this! The orange is my favorite part.

Great design, really inspires me to get my stamps out - like Mary Lou all I need is time. I like the subtle effects that chalking gives. - My only fear is it "coming off on my hands" will have to get some sealant.
