Multi-media stamping is here!
Our new fabric friendly stamps come with "FAB" as part of their item number and are so named because we designed them to work on fabrics. They are also great for stamping on wood, paper, and other surfaces!
INTRODUCING POSY GARLAND stamp set which we designed especially for stamping on fabric...
...and of course it works great on paper... (more on that later...)
Now it's POSY GARLAND on Fabric...
Visit our Fabric Stamping page for more details on inks and other important tips for stamping on fabric.
In this quilt square, which measures about 10 x 10 inches, I drew out the swirl shape and then stamped inside of the shape. Then I used the same inks I used for stamping and added them to water and brushed the ink onto the fabric around the swirl I had drawn. Then I quilted the square. It's easy to make two-toned fabric by simply painting the variations of color where you want them. You can't get this effect with store-bought fabric!
Multi-media inks - We've used Speedball inks:
Inks - Chrysanthemum, Process Cyanine, and Spring
Here is a computer rendering of what the square would look like if I replicated it and made it onto a quilt block.
This sample uses the same FAB Posy Garland set but with different colors and a different layout.
Multi-media inks - Inks - Iris, Muscari, Leaf, and Spring
Posy Garland PAPER PROJECT - Let's make a card!
Papers -
Yellow card stock half-sheet, unfolded
Purple card stock quarter sheet
Violet card stock
White card stock quarter sheet
White card stock scraps
Violet card stock scrap
Inks - Versacolor Narcissus, Split Pea, Peony, Grape, Bamboo, Green Tea, Hyacinth
Tools and Embellishments -
Chalk - Butterscotch
Oval dies - Spellbinders Classic Ovals Large - S4-110
Cuttlebug embossing folder - "Textile Texture" and "Swiss Dots"
Ribbon - 1-inch Yellow
Ribbon - Thin Purple
Gold Paint Pen
Instructions -
Take the Yellow card stock half-sheet and stamp the following to make a background pattern:
Take the Yellow ribbon and attach it to the card in a vertical direction. Attach the thinner Purple ribbon on top of the yellow one and set aside for now.
Take the Violet card stock and cut out an oval using the largest die in the set.
Then run the same oval through the machine again, this time inside the embossing folder.
Using this oval as a pattern, draw a slightly larger oval on the Purple Paper and cut out with scissors. Run the Purple oval through the machine using the "Swiss Dots" embossing folder.
Next, edge both ovals with the Gold Paint Pen and then glue the smaller Violet oval on top of the larger Purple oval. Then prepare for stamping.
On a White piece of paper, stamp the following in an oval pattern:
Stamp the Flowers in Narcissus ink and then use the Butterscotch Chalk to colorize the Flowers.
Using the same stamp, dip the stamp first in Peony ink and then just the tips in Grape ink and stamp. Stamp a second time before re-inking for added depth.
Then stamp the Flowers again, this time in Green Tea ink.
Then cut the wreath out and, using PopIt! Shapes foam tape, attach it to the card base, on top of the Ovals you made earlier. Then get ready to make the sentiment embellishment.
Sentiment Embellishment -
On a White scrap, stamp the "Best Friends" sentiment in Grape ink. Then use the Flowers stamp and Narcissus ink to make a background around the sentiment. Follow with the Leaves stamp in the same color of ink.
Use scissors to cut the sentiment out (I cut this one out in a rectangular shape, cutting around the impressions that went out of the rectangle). Edge the medallion with the Gold Paint Pen and then glue it to a scrap of Violet card stock. Trim away most of the Violet paper, leaving just a thing pinstripe showing. Then mount the medallion on top of the card.
Next, add embellishments to the medallion by stamping the Flowers in Hyacinth/Grape ink (dip the stamp first in Hyacinth ink and immediately dipping it again in the Grape ink around the edges of the flower before stamping). Repeat with the Leaves stamp and then cut out. Repeat for a second embellishment. Glue the two floral embellishments to the sentiment medallion.
Tie a bow using the Purple ribbon in a horizontal direction and glue down the ends. Then add some glitter glue and you're all done!
INTRODUCING OLD-FASHIONED GINGERBREAD stamp set... a wood project...
Stamps -
Old-Fashioned Gingerbread stamp set
Supplies -
An unfinished wooden box from your local craft store
Plastic oval template - for the featured painted-on medallion on top of the box
Multi-media inks - We've used Speedball ink colors made with our own INK RECIPES:
Inks - Twig, Leaf, and Iris
White card stock for the recipe card.
We made some recipe cards using different stamp sets in previous blogs and mentioned some time ago the possibility of making a decorative recipe box to hold them. The Old-Fashioned Gingerbread seemed the perfect set to use for decorating this box.
Stamp the Gingerbread Man in Twig ink.
Stamp the Holly Leaves in Leaf ink.
Stamp the Candy Cane in Iris ink.
Take the foam out of the ink cup and use it to smudge the outer edges of the wooden box, to add dimension. Continue with this stamping method on each side of the box. I used an oval template to make a centerpiece on the top of the box.
Until next week, Happy Stamping from Susan and rest of the gang at Rubber Stamp Tapestry!

Wow! This is the best tutorial I've ever seen on your site...and I LOVE all of the stamps you showed, too. Thanks for sharing!

I love this card ! Looking forward to using the bigger stamps. Could you show a picture of the sizes of stamp side by side - jumbo,' normal' mini, tiny - so we can have an idea of the comparison ? On the top picture in the email a couple of different stamps are shown.... How long will we have to wait for them ? Exciting !

What a delightful bonanza of samples, techniques and ideas! Ditto the request for the size comparison. I have some of different sizes but when I want to order a single to go with what I already have I don't know which size might be best. for example I have somoe of the clear Christmas sets and was thinking about adding a gingerbread man and a candy cane but am not sure which size will go bet with the holly and poisettias I already have. Thanks again for the great instructions. The posy garland set samples are especially appealing. The dimension on the card is so rich feeling. Being a quilter I really like what you did with the fabric pieces. Great colors on both.

Gosh the ideas were really flowing with the new peg stamps being made for fabric painting. I'm thinking gift time now. Wouldn't a set of hand stamped napkins make a lovely Christmas gift? The Posy Garland set is awesome! It's definitely a must have stamp set. Love what you did with the adorable card. The gingerbread recipe box is cute, too. I hope you will give more details on your recipe pot mixtures of the paint. Great idea. Thanks for sharing it with all of us.

Geez...you make me want to start liking sewing! I love those quilt blocks! I suppose you could do this on t-shirts too which wouldn't require breaking out the sewing machine! Come to think of it I think I have a set of napkins around here I never got around to stamping. May have to search for those!

What a brilliant idea! I have stamped on fabric before, but the results were mixed. It will be great to have some stamps made specially for it. The Posy Garland set is gorgeous, as is the card.
