Last week we debuted our first fabric sentiment stamp ("be thankful") which is very exciting! This week we introduce two more sentiments, "love," and "forever." The great "thing about the stamps is that you can use one at at time or combine them to make a phrase.
Quilted Pot Holder
Stamps -
October Mums stamp set
"Love" sentiment stamp
"Forever" sentiment stamp
Materials -
2 pieces of 8x8-inch muslin square
1 piece of batting
Royal blue blender bias strips
Thread - gold and blue
Heart template
Foam for smudging
Fabric Inks - Forgetmenot, Light Forgetmenot (Forgetmenot mixed with White), Pumpkin, Gold, Dark Fern (Black mixed with Fern), Brown (Poinsettia mixed with Fern)
Instructions for Pot Holder -
Place the Heart template in the middle of the muslin square. Use a piece of foam and the Gold fabric ink to smudge the gold ink inside the template. Make sure to leave some white areas.
Stamp the "love" and "Forever" stamps in Forgetmenot ink across the Heart you just made. Then stamp the Leaf stamp in Brown, Forgetmenot, and Light Forgetmenot inks.
Stamp the two sentiment stamps in Forgetmenot ink all around the square.
Stamp the following, to make a border:
Stamp the Flower in Pumpkin ink.
Stamp the Flower a second time in Forgetmenot ink.
Stamp the Flower a third time in Light Forgetmenot ink.
Stamp the Flower one more time in Gold ink.
Then stamp the Leaf in Fern ink.
Stamp it a second time in Dark Fern ink.
Stamp a third time in Light Forgetmenot ink.
Last, stamp the Sprig in Brown ink.
Then sandwich the muslin pieces with the batting, quilt the piece, add the blue trim and you're finished!
Oh... here's something else that works nicely when you're making a fabric project. The heart template that you used in the center of the muslin panel works so prettily on the corner of the fabric, too!
Greeting Card
Now let's see what a card will look like...
Paper - half-sheet, folded (any color)
White quarter panel (4.25 x 5.5 inches)
White card stock scrap
Rust card stock scrap
Ribbon
Inks -
Versacolor Paprika, Lapislazuli, Split Pea, Bamboo, Green Tea
Encore Metallic Gold
Instructions -
Stamp the following images around the border of the quarter sheet:
Stamp the Flower in the following colors (stamping a second time before re-inking):
Paprika, Lapislazuli, Split Pea, and Gold.
Stamp the Leaf in the following colors: Bamboo, Gold, and Green Tea.
Stamp the Sprig in Bark ink.
Now just add the medallion and the ribbons and you're finished!

Susan -
I love how this came out, both the pot holder and the card! I love the blue gingham ribbon on the card, perfect touch. I don't think I could use the pot holder for its original purpose though, way to pretty. I think I'd probably turn it into a wall hanging, maybe add a few in different designs.
Another awesome project Susan.

What can I say? You've gone and done it...AGAIN! LOVE this newer version of the Mums, and of course, gotta get it as well! lol I doubt I could "quilt" it as well as you, but this set works just as well on paper as it does on fabric! And I'm thinking the edges of neck scarves, myself...no quilting required! lol TFS, gotta get this on my wishlist so my DH knows what to get me! :-)

Although I've never seen a blue mum, the way you stamp it makes it beautiful. Thanks for a chance to win this fall set.
