Can you say "bunches of layers and texture"? Some days a person just wants to savor her craft project instead of hurrying to get it out the door. This card is rich with layers and warm colors and will be a textured treat for the one who receives it!
Stamps -
Winter Garland stamp set
"Bless your heart" 3-inch sentiment block stamp
Paper -
Burgundy half-sheet, folded
Olive Green quarter-sheet (5.5 x 4.25)
White card stock, various pieces
Black card stock, various pieces
Inks -
Versacolor Bamboo, Split Pea, Burgundy, Pinecone, and Evergreen; Archival Black
Tools and Embellishments -
Cuttlebug embossing folder - "Textile Texture"
Oval dies - Spellbinders Classic Ovals Large
Ribbons
Buttons - Basic Grey "Mellow"
Thread
Gold Paint Pen
Instructions -
Take the Burgundy half-sheet and run it through the embossing folder. Edge the card base with the Gold Paint Pen. Set aside for now.
Now take the Olive quarter-sheet and cut it in half horizontally. Then stamp along the border, using all of the stamps in the set and Archival Black ink. Trim the inside edges of the paper (around the stamped images) once you have finished stamping. Then Glue the cut-out panel to a piece of Black card stock and trim away the excess. Glue the Olive Green panel to the card base. Attach the ribbon and set this aside for now.
Next, run another piece of the Black card stock through the die cut machine using the larger oval die. Edge with the Gold Paint Pen. Along the border, draw squiggles and dots with the Gold Paint Pen and then glue the panel to the card base.
Centerpiece Wreath -
Take another piece of White card stock and lightly trace with pencil an oval smaller than the Black one you made earlier. Use the pencilled marks as a stamping guide and stamp the following (some portions of the stamped images might go outside of the oval):
Stamp the Holly in Bamboo ink.
Stamp the Holly stamp again, this time in Split Pea ink.
Stamp the Pinecone in Black ink.
Stamp the Pine Branch in Pinecone ink.
Stamp the Berries in Burgundy ink.
Then trim around the oval and the images that protruded past the oval. Next, use the Gold Paint pen to edge the oval (but don't edge the images that protruded past the oval). Using the double-sided foam tape, attach this wreath to the center of the Black Oval you made earlier, set the piece aside momentarily, and prepare to make some cut-outs for added depth...
Cut-outs for the Centerpiece -
Stamp the Holly Leaf in Bamboo/Evergreen ink (ink the stamp first in Bamboo and immediately dip just a portion of the stamp in Evergreen for a two-toned effect).
Stamp several impressions of the Berries in Burgundy ink.
Cut all of these out and, using the foam tape, attach them to the centerpiece.
Close-up of the centerpiece cut-outs, layered with double-sided foam tape...
Sentiment Cut-out -
In this example, I used Sage ink but decided to change it to the Split Pea ink to appeal to the colors already in the card.
Stamp the "Bless Your Heart" sentiment in Black ink onto some White paper. Stamp the Leaf in Split Pea ink. Follow with the Berries in Split Pea ink around the sentiment. Cut out. Then glue onto a piece of Black card stock and trim away the excess. Nestle at the top of the centerpiece you made earlier and fasten to the card-base using the foam tape.
Buttons -
Detail of stamped and painted buttons
Take an assortment of buttons and, using the Holly stamp and Archival Black ink, stamp some impressions on each button. You can either heat set with a heat gun or just wait for the ink to air dry. Once the ink dries, use the Gold Paint Pen around the edges and in various places on the button. Then use some Burgundy Thread to faux-thread the buttons and then glue them down.
Once the buttons are in place, you're done!

OMG! It is beautiful! Now all you need is a punch to punch out the holly leaves and berries instead of cutting those little tiny items!
