Little Dress Dimensional Embellishment

We all love our die cut machines, don't we? But what about those who don't own one or those who are looking for a light-weight, inexpensive, convenient alternative? After requests from our customers for something easy to use (and to take on trips), we are happy to introduce some exciting new positioning templates!

Stamps -
Little Posy Basket stamp set
"thinking of YOU" sentiment mini peg stamp

Papers -
Green card stock half-sheet, folded
White card stock pieces and scraps

Tools and Accessories -
NEW RST Positioning Templates - DRESS, PINAFORE, and SMALL SHAPES
Blending Foam
Embossing folder - (I used Cuttlebug "Textile Texture")
PopIt! Shapes Double-sided foam tape
Ribbon

Inks -
Kaleidacolor® Creole Spice ink pad;
Versacolor Orchid, Boysenberry, Green Tea, and Bark 

Instructions -

 

Using the PINAFORE positioning template and White card stock - take a piece of Blending Foam and the Green ink from the Creole Spice ink pad and outline the Pinafore.

At the bottom center portion of the PINAFORE, stamp the Basket using Versacolor Bark ink.

 

 Then, using Versacolor Green Tea ink, "place" some Sprigs in the basket and all along the border of the Pinafore.

 

 
Using Versacolor Orchid ink, stamp some Flowers along the border. Repeat with Versacolor Boysenberry ink. Set aside for now.

Instead of using ink to outline the collar (found on the PINAFORE positioning template), use a pencil instead. Then cut out the collar and run it through the die cut machine in the embossing folder. Set aside for now.

Use the Dress Positioning Template, a piece of Blending Foam and Versacolor Orchid ink to outline the dress shape.

 

 

Orchid Flowers in Detail

Then use the Flowers stamp from the stamp set and Orchid ink to texturize the edges of the dress. Then set aside.

Using Versacolor Bamboo ink, stamp the "thinking of YOU" sentiment on White paper. Locate the Oval on the SMALL SHAPES positioning template and center the sentiment within the oval. Then use the Versacolor Orchid ink to outline the oval. Cut out the medallion.

Assemble the Card -
Take the Green card stock half-sheet and run it through the die cut machine using the embossing folder. Then use the Versacolor Bamboo ink pad and scuff the edges of the card base. Next, take the DRESS and glue it to the card base. Tie the ribbon around the PINAFORE and then use PopIt! foam tape to attach the PINAFORE on top of the DRESS. Locate the collar you made earlier and glue it to the PINAFORE. Last, glue the "thinking of YOU" sentiment medallion to the center of the card and you're done!

NEW Carolina Dreamin' Stamp Set!

As you know, we're on the road again! We got to see some familiar faces at our last show-- and meet some new ones! It was nice to see you all in Lawrenceville, Georgia! We'll keep you posted as we make changes to our show schedule. In the meantime, here's a tribute to Spring, which I'm sure we're ALL ready for: introducing the new Carolina Dreamin' stamp set (birds and sentiments sold separately)...

Stamps –
Carolina Dreamin' stamp set
Kingbird block stamp
Nuthatch block stamp
“love life” sentiment 1.5” block stamp
“Life is Good” sentiment block stamp

Paper -
Navy card stock half-sheet, folded (for card base)
White card stock quarter sheet
White card stock scraps (for birds, sentiments, medallion, and stamped half-wreath)

Inks -
Versacolor Grape, Khaki, Lapislazuli, Peony, Green Tea, and Hyacinth;
Archival Black

Embellishments and Tools -
Circle die (3.5-inch diameter)
Gold Paint Pen
Colored Pencils – Blue, Lavender, and Pink
PopIt! Shapes foam tape – (I used Square)
Thin ribbon (I used pale lavender)

Instructions -
Run the Navy card stock through the die cut machine with the circle die. Then take the White and Navy card stock pieces and run them through the embossing folder (one at at time). Use the Gold paint pen to edge the top and bottom borders and the inside of the circle of the Navy paper. Set all these pieces aside for now.

Now get ready to stamp the birds' habitat...

Stamp the Flower in Grape ink, stamping a second impression before re-inking (for added depth).

Stamp the Flower again, this time in Khaki ink.

Stamp the Floral Cluster in Lapislazuli ink.

Then stamp it again, in Peony ink.

Stamp the Leaves in Green Tea ink.

Stamp the Sprig in Black ink.

Then cut wreath out, using small scissors or an X-acto knife (I used scissors!). Line up the wreath in the opening of the Navy card front and when it looks balanced, glue the stamped panel behind the Navy card front. Then locate and glue the embossed piece of White card stock you made earlier behind the stamped panel.

Medallion and Cutouts -
Use Black ink to stamp both Birds on a piece of White card stock. Color the birds with Colored Pencils. Cut them out, then prepare to stamp the sentiments.

Stamp “Life is Good” on White paper with the Black ink. Cut out (I cut the “Life is Good” sentiment on a curve, to match the curvature of the round featured area on the card front). Use Hyacinth ink to make a light background on the “Life is Good” medallion. Edge the medallion with the Hyacinth ink. Take a slightly larger piece of paper and use Peony ink and the Flower stamp to make a texture. Glue the medallion to the Peony paper and then trim the Peony paper away, to form a slightly larger background piece for the medallion. Glue the two pieces together.

Next, use Black ink to stamp “love life” (I stamped two of these but you can get by with stamping only one) and then trim away the excess paper. Cut the words in two and glue “love” under the left side of the medallion you just made and “life” under the right side. Mount the resulting medallion with foam tape and glue the medallion to the bottom portion of the circle cut-out on the card front.

Add the ribbon and guess what? We're done!
