Dress and Pinafore Gift Tag

The dress and pinafore positioning templates we recently introduced have been so much fun and have so many applications that we wanted to include another variation in this week's blog. This time, instead of attaching it to a card, I made a sweet little gift tag using the Carolina Dreamin' stamp set.

 

Stamps -
Carolina Dreamin' stamp set
"Especially for You" sentiment stamp

Papers -
White card stock

Inks -
Kaleidacolor Creole Spice ink pad
Versacolor Grape, Peony, Green Tea, and Hyacinth

Tools and Embellishments -
Rubber Stamp Tapestry Positioning Templates - Dress, Pinafore, and Small Shapes
Embossing folder (I used Cuttlebug "Textile Texture")
Blending foam
PopIt! Shapes double sided foam tape - (I used Squares)
Gold Paint Pen
Thin ribbon

Instructions -
Take the Dress positioning template and place it on top of a folded piece of card stock, with the paper fold at the top. Then lightly trace the shape with a pencil. Cut out the shape (the dress will now fold open) and then run it through a die cut machine using the embossing folder. Then use Hyacinth ink to smudge the edges and portions of the raised areas. Set aside.

Then take the Pinafore positioning template and White card stock. Lightly trace around the collar with a pencil and cut the collar out. Run the collar through the embossing folder and edge with Hyacinth ink. Set aside for now.

Locate the Pinafore positioning template. Use Yellow ink from the Creole Spice ink pad and a piece of blending foam to make a yellow silhouette around the Pinafore. Cut out the pinafore (note: I trimmed the "hem" a little past the yellow for added interest) and prepare to stamp:

 
Stamp the Flower in Grape ink.

 
Stamp the Flower Cluster in Peony ink.

 
Stamp the Leaves in Green Tea ink.
   

Stamp the Sprig in the Yellow from the Creole Spice ink pad.

Now you're ready to write a note inside the tag. Then tie the thin ribbon around the waist of the Pinafore. Use the foam tape to attach the Pinafore to the Dress. Glue the collar to the Pinafore.

Here I used the Yellow from the Creole Spice ink pad for all of the stamps in
the set to create a border that wouldn't compete with my written message.

Make the Sentiment Medallion -
Using Grape ink, stamp the sentiment on a piece of card stock. Then line up the tall heart from the Small Shapes positioning template to center the sentiment. Take a piece of blending foam with the Purple ink from the Creole Spice ink pad and make a silhouette.

Cut the heart out (I left a thin edge of white card stock) and then use the Gold Paint Pen to make a dotted border around the heart. Glue the sentiment medallion to the gift card and you're finished!

Bluebird in Springtime

We wanted to thank our friend, Marjo Kauppila, in Finland who features our stamps so often on her blog. Last month, she made some bird cut-outs onto which she stamped lovely patterns using some of our stamps (you can see them about three-fourths down this page). This helped inspire the making of our new, inexpensive, lightweight positioning templates, including the one used in this project!

 

Stamps - Pottery Garden stamp set

Positioning Templates - "Perched Bird with Wing" and "Oval"

Inks -
Kaleidacolor Creole Spice ink pad;
Versacolor Bamboo, Lapislazuli, Split Pea, Green Tea, and Bark

Papers -
Green designer paper
Brown designer paper
Light Blue card stock
White card stock

Accessories -
Blending foam
Adhesive Pearls - I used Chocolate and Teal
PopIt! Shapes (I used Square) double-sided foam tape

Instructions -

Using the designer papers, make the card base to measure 3.5 x 6 inches when folded.

Rubber Stamp Tapestry uses the component stamping method, which we have included in so very many of our blogs. Those who are not familiar with the way we use our stamps can visit our

animated demo for Basket of Flowers, which is similar to the Pottery Garden set.

Stamp the Row of Pots stamp with Versacolor Bamboo ink on a piece of White paper. When the ink dries, position the translucent Bird positioning template and, using the Green and Blue inks from the Kaleidacolor Creole Spice ink pad, blend the bird silhouette onto the paper. Take care to use less ink around the area of the pots. Put away the template and prepare to stamp.

Stamp the flowers in the pot:
Stamp the Larger Flower in Lapislazuli ink. Repeat with Split Pea ink.

Stamp the Leaves in Green Tea ink.

Stamp the Itsy Flower in Bark ink.
Stamp the Sprig Bamboo ink.

Stamp the Bird
Next, use the Leaves stamp and Lapislazuli ink to stamp a simple border around the perimeter of the Bird.

Stamp the Wing
Stamp the Flower in Bark ink.
Stamp the Leaves in Bark ink.
Stamp the Itsy Flower in Bamboo ink.

Once you have finished stamping, use small scissors to trim away the Bird and the "potted plants" so that it forms one piece. Glue the Bird to an Oval piece of Brown/Green designer paper. Then use PopIt! tape to attach this ensemble to a slightly larger oval made of Blue paper. Edge the Blue oval with Lapislazuli ink. Glue the resulting ensemble to the card base. Then attach the Adhesive Pearls (chocolate for the bird's eye and Teal for the oval). Last, tie the ribbon and you're finished!
