I love day trips that involve plants, nature, animals, etc. Don and I decided to drive to Winston Salem and visit Reynolda Village to see what was growing inside of their gorgeous greenhouses. They have beautiful outside gardens also, but it is a bit early to see anything blooming now.
Inside of the greenhouse, there were succulents, palms, ferns, orchids, cyclamen (to name a few!) and lots of seedlings.
The design of this greenhouse, which was built in 1913, is amazing.
Arched doorways, lined with the perfume of fresh flowers is a treat!
The Garden Boutique, located in the greenhouse had several items that I could not live without. There was also a garden room full of orchids, cyclamen, etc., that were available for purchase.

I have always been drawn to the wonderful foliage of coleus. This is the first of several photos that I took while visiting.
You can see that I went a bit overboard with the coleus photos. Coleus will again be part of my garden plan for 2009. Maybe I need to work on a coleus stamp set :)
